He’s also been a board member for Hand in Paw, the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, and somehow still finds time to be active in his church and local school mentoring programs.

In 2020, Dr. Branch was named Alabama Veterinarian of the Year, and in 2024, he received the Distinguished Service Award—because when you’re this committed to your community and your colleagues, the recognition tends to follow.

He’s been married to his wife since 1981, and together they’ve raised a son—and probably a few foster animals along the way. In his spare time, Dr. Branch enjoys traveling, listening to music, and gardening. He’s especially passionate about veterinary wellness and wants every colleague to know: if the profession ever feels heavy, he’s always available to be a listening ear, a sounding board, or a lunch buddy.
