Jerome B. Williams, DVM

Dr. Jerome Williams is the Director of the Alabama Veterinary Professionals Wellness Program and the longtime owner of Red Mountain Animal Clinic, which he established in 1975 after beginning his career in Chicago working in small animal practice and with the USDA. Over the years, Dr. Williams has served as President of both the Alabama Veterinary Medical Foundation and the Jefferson County Veterinary Medical Association. He is also a past advisor to the AVMA, the State Board of Medical Examiners, and several Physician Health Programs (PHPs). He has worked closely with wellness programs across the country, offering guidance to veterinary professionals and healthcare leaders on suicide prevention and well-being.

Since 1999, he has served as the resident veterinarian on Good Day Alabama’s “Ask the Pet Doctor” segment and co-produces the popular “Animal Specialist” feature on Fox 6 News. His leadership in wellness extends nationally, where he continues to contribute through panel discussions, published research, and presentations focused on mental health in the veterinary field.

Dr. Williams is widely regarded as a passionate, nationally recognized advocate for suicide prevention and wellness in the veterinary profession. He remains a tireless champion for recovery, mentorship, and systemic change to support those who care for animals and communities every day.
