Meet the Committee
The AVPWP Committee is a group of professionals with a commitment to the well being of our fellow colleagues. Geographically, we are located over most of the state. We hope that our close proximity to one of you along with our readily available contact information may be the motivation that you need to reach out and have a friend in one of us. We are here to offer support and encouragement and can also help get you set up with the Director of the Program, Dr. Jerome Williams, for the help that you seek.

Dr. Lindsay Floyd
AVPWP Chairperson
Dr. Lindsay Floyd is a 2007 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has practiced in both North and South Carolina, but then ultimately ended up coming back to her hometown of Birmingham, AL where she has lived since 2012. Dr. Floyd currently owns and operates Compassionate Crossings (a house call mobile euthanasia service for the Birmingham area) and is also a full time associate veterinarian at Lincoln Veterinary Clinic in Lincoln, AL. When she is not doing veterinary related things (which is rare), her favorite things to do are working in her garden and traveling. Dr. Floyd has been a member of the Wellness Program since 2012, Co-Chair of the Committee since 2020, and Chairperson since 2024. The Wellness Program extended help and hope to her during a time of struggle, and she seized the opportunity to join the committee and return the favor to anyone in the veterinary industry needing assistance.

Dr. Ingrid M. Straeter
AVPWP Committee Member
Dr. Straeter graduated from Hannover, Germany and then went on to a small animal internship at Washington State University and a non-traditional residency in cardiology at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Straeter has lived and worked in Alabama since 1993 with several of the early years spent in cardiology research at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She founded Cardiac Evaluations aka Animal Cardiology in Birmingham in 1997 which eventually became her sole workplace, with a satellite practice in Huntsville, AL. Dr. Straeter realizes the relative mental shelter of a privately-owned specialty clinic while having been confronted with mental health issues in other areas of her life. Mental well-being is important and needs to be a focus whoever we are, and wherever we work. Decreasing the stigma associated with mental health issues and the stigma of being “different” are signficant topics for Dr. Straeter which is why being a member of the Wellness Committee is important to her. Dr. Straeter has a husband and 4 (almost) grown children, quite a few dogs, chickens, geese, and horses, as well as several thousand bees.

AVPWP Committee Member
Dr. Cathleen (Cricket) Forester graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. Upon graduation, Dr. Forester began her career as a small animal veterinarian along the Georgia coast. Not ever fully embracing Eastern time, Dr. Forester made her way back to Alabama and eventually settled in Baldwin County. Dr. Forester has held a wide range of roles within the veterinary environment and has worked in a variety of clinical settings, everything from single doctor practices to corporate practice. This gave Dr. Forester the opportunity to provide care for the beloved companions of people of all socioeconomic backgrounds from the impoverished to the prosperous, which led to personal growth. In the Fall of 2013, Dr. Forester was hired to start the Veterinary Technology AAS program at Coastal Alabama Community College and has held the position as Program Director to this day. AVPWP Committee Member
Dr. Babette Dixon has been in private practice in Baldwin county for 30 years.
